I had a incident where I was playing tennis, and it was a freak accident. I fell down, my racket fell out of my hand, bounced back up, hit me right in the mouth. That was on a Saturday, and I called the office and of course, it was their emergency number, I left a message. In a very short time. Dr. Shatto himself, called me. I don't know if he normally does that, or what the situation was, but he called me and I told him the situation, and I came up to his office. He met me up here and got me fixed up enough to get me through the weekend, and had me come in Monday and started a plan to put a bridge in my mouth. The process went great.

Dr. Shatto and his staff gave me a list of the options that I had. Gave me an idea of where I needed to go, but didn't pressure me to go in a certain way. It was very helpful and very relaxing.

Dr. Shatto and his team are very friendly, they're very nice. They seem to care about their patients, and they work with you in ways that I haven't had other offices work with me. Ms. Karen up front, she has to come hug my neck every time I walk in here, and you don't get that everywhere. The staff, they're just so friendly and nice, and it's a great place to come.

I let my oral health fall into a little bit of disrepair. I had some minor gingivitis. I came through for, I would say, some more frequent treatment with the office here for deep cleaning and really helped get my oral hygiene back in check, which for me personally is very important. I'm also part of the Navy Reserve and having poor oral hygiene can actually get in the way of your naval career so it was a really important turning point for me to get back on track.

Just knowing that your teeth are in good check, they have an impact on the whole rest of your bodies health, is a good feeling. And then I know coming in on a frequent basis that it'll make sure that it all stays on track and that preventive care is really important.

Dr Shatto has been a steady presence for my dental history. You can count on them. I've never had any issues with them rescheduling appointments or having problems with getting things done. In all the treatments I've had they've been very careful to make sure that I left with the right followup instructions, any pain medication, all that sort of stuff. It was just very caring and I think if you're looking for that holistic approach to dentistry, I have zero hesitation in recommending Dr Shatto.

I haven't been able to smile in, really smile in 20 years. By living the way I was living I lost a lot of my teeth and I've been with Dr. Chateau for a while so he has seen the progression, where I've been losing these teeth and he always, he never talks down. He talks up and tells me what I need to do and what he can do.

I like taking pictures but I couldn't take pictures anymore. Every picture I take I was afraid of what would happen and that fear was real because I would look at the picture and I would always hit delete, delete, delete. I didn't want ...

People would ask me, "Do you have any teeth?" They would ask me because I wouldn't smile. When I left here a couple of weeks ago, I was able to smile. I looked at myself and my life changed.

My son, I saw his eyes lit up. My wife, I saw her eyes lit up. And they knew I was happy because I would go on vacation, no smile. And then I smile for no reason at all. I smile just to be smiling. It makes a difference, it does make a difference. It's perfect. I mean I am comfortable. I can chew, I can eat meat. My thing was we go out to restaurants and stuff and I'm always ordering soft food. I want something soft. I actually had a steak, that was major. That's major. And I was able to chew it. You don't know what that feels like. 20 years without using your teeth? Okay. So I'm back.

Dr. Shatto is a wonderful dentist. I was one of those people ... First time I was in a dentist office I was 27 years old and have always been afraid of going to the dentist but he makes it so easy and so enjoyable. He actually pulled one of my teeth about a year and a half ago and there was no trauma. There was no pain. I was very comfortable with what he did and the explanation. Our team is very good. A lot of our patients come in that don't have any idea and I didn't have any idea about a lot of the things, why we need to take care of our teeth and the connection. But she is very, very good at explaining things. All of our girls are very knowledgeable on what they do. It really is a joy to come to work and work with the people that we have now. We have an excellent team and we are like a family.

I've been with Dr. Shatto since I was maybe 15. So he's always so professional and you know when he comes in he makes you feel really relaxed. He's really funny.

I started Invisalign with Dr. Shatto and I had that for maybe six or eight months and within that it was just such an easy process to go through, Invisalign.

I think I was just about to graduate, actually, in high school. And I really wanted my pictures to look really good. And so Dr. Shatto ... we got Invisalign. He's like, "you know, you won't ... nobody will be able to tell that you have it." And they didn't. A lot of people when I told them, I was like, "Oh, yeah. I'm wearing braces right now." They'd be like, "What? Are you serious?" I'd have to actually show them, like, "Yeah, you know, I have my braces on right now."

You can really tell, my teeth were just kind of on top of each other. And so with the Invisalign that really straightened everything out and people could really tell, so.

Every time I come in it's a very relaxing day. They make sure that I know exactly what's going to happen, they make sure that I am you know, aware of any complications that could happen, anything else. And you know what my aftercare is going to be like.

So I don't ever worry that anything's going to go wrong just because I know that they're really good at what they do. And they really care about their patients, so their follow up is really great as well.

American Family Dental offers definitely one on one conversations with the doctor and all professionals that work here. I know sometimes in other offices it's kind of an in and out, in and out treatment. But here at American Family Dental we definitely try and build relationships. And some patients come in with a mentality of the dental office, isn't my friend. The dental office is not a place where I want to be, not my favorite. And just changing that whole dynamic, changing the conversation and making it a little bit more personable, building that trust between patients and myself and just making sure that they are 100% aware that not only are they coming in to get a cleaning, but they're also coming in to have that family oriented treatment. So they're more comfortable when they come back because ultimately that's the goal. Is when they walk back in the door, they know what to expect, they're comfortable and they're overall happy and excited to be here.

I love it, because the staff and Dr. Shatto is amazing, you know? He's that kind of person that when you come in, afraid, thinking that is going to hurt ... because do you know what? We all have that. It's a nightmare to go to the dentist, but when you come here, you see him coming into the room, and the sun come out. The confidence that he has, the way he explains everything to you. The way he tells you, "Do you have any questions?" And then you say, well this is my question, this is my afraid, and how are you going to solve my problem?

How are you going to smile if you don't have teeth? Or how do you eat happy if you don't have the teeth? And now my health improved, and I'm not missing anything. So when you're not missing anything, you have to smile. It is just like that, I mean improve not just my smile, my life, and my confidence. I've been here for most of two years, and I never went through pain.

So, to me that's a plus, it's what matters. I mean no pain, and I come happy here, they don't have to drag me. Every time I come here I see a lot of people and everybody's happy, so I'm not the only one. I mean everybody's special here.

I met Dr. Shatto at the gym and asked him what kind of options I had. I was seeing a dentist at the time and I had crowns that fell out and broke. He said, "Why don't you just come in and we'll take a look." I felt more comfortable here so I changed dentists and I'm very pleased that I did.

I had a lot of pain, and of course the crowns were falling out. I had already put a lot of money in the teeth and now I had another decision to do it over again. I'm glad that I did because I don't have the pain anymore, and I'm not putting my hand over my mouth when I smile. I feel more confident.

They always stopped to see if I needed a break or I was in too much pain. Just really took good care of me. My husband is going to come because he's also losing some crowns from the same dentist. He likes what he sees so he's excited to come back here too.
