Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth. This process involves a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible high tech medical grade polyurethane plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. This is based on the exact movements specified by Dr. Shatto via the miracle of digital computer technology. You just pop in a new set of aligners every two weeks until treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re wearing them.

With today’s advances in technology there is a greater demand for new innovations for people that cannot tolerate the traditional method of brackets and wires. The glory of the Invisalign tray system is that the trays can be removed at will which does not effect your daily life. It allows you to eat whatever and whenever you want. Brushing and flossing is also easier and more effective than bonded braces for better hygiene. Office visits are less frequent with invisalign and they are comfortable to wear. Most importantly you will enjoy virtually invisible teeth straightening. Invisalign clear aligners straighten teeth in about the same amount of time as our regular braces. The sophisticated and revolutionary perk of invisalign starts with the utilization of the clin-check video. When someone decides to start the Invisalgn process it’s as simple as taking detailed impressions , x-rays, and photographs of the patient’s teeth that is then converted into a digital before, during and after video. This clin-check video is reviewed with patient in order to show the digital transformation of crooked teeth to straight teeth. At the clin-check review we explain all the steps, including how many trays are worn, the possible need for interproximal reduction (IPR), attachments, and of course the end result- a beautiful new smile! It’s a very easy process and we can be assured and confident in the outcome before we’ve ever delivered the first set of trays. Now that’s AMAZING!!! Once the clin-check process is complete and we are happy with our proposed result, the invisalign trays are made to your computerized specifications in just 10 days. Each tray is worn for two weeks. For example if there are 30 trays then we know our treatment is 60 weeks or about a year and two months. It’s important not to skip trays or time wearing of the trays. The first week of tray wearing moves teeth slowly (active tray time). The second week is called passive tray time. This allows the teeth to rest biologically while the body adjusts to the movement. The trays are worn about 22 hours a day but can be taken out for eating, cleaning and social events, which is preferred by many adults.

Interproximal reduction (IPR) has made a huge advance in non-extraction, non-surgical intervention by means of gaining space when needed by modifying some of the outer tooth surface, called enamel, usually between teeth that touch. This method does not damage the teeth because, very small increments (in millimeters) of enamel is removed between some teeth in order to gain space when needed. IPR has been around since the 1940’s and has been made popular again by Invisalign treatment in order to avoid invasive and expensive surgical methods.

Attachments are also sometimes necessary in invisalign treatment to help trays leverage or torque particular teeth. Attachments are small composite (tooth colored filling material) dimples that are strategically placed on some of the cheek side of teeth when necessary. They blend in and are barely noticeable but are vital to the tooth movement process in invisalign treatment.

Retainers(teeth retention)

After Invisalign treatment it is very important for each person to wear retainers to keep their newly teeth straight. We recommend retainers to be worn for 8 hours daily or just simply sleep in them all night. It will be easy to get used to retainers since they are just like Invisaign trays without the active movement. After one year of wearing Invisalign retainers for 8 hours, we recommend that you taper down to wearing retainers for just 20 minutes per day, perhaps in the shower or during a favorite TV program. That way you will be assured you will always keep your smile alive.
